“Welcome,” the comedy gem of Hindi cinema, has been a favourite among Hindi cinema enthusiasts. The anticipation for its third sequel has been sky-high, and the wait is finally over. The movie’s producers have officially unveiled the title and release date for “Welcome 3.” Get ready for “Welcome To The Jungle,” set to hit theatres around Christmas next year.
The announcement was confirmed by trade expert Taran Adarsh on Twitter. He shared, “FIROZ A NADIADWALA LOCKS CHRISTMAS 2024 FOR ‘WELCOME 3’…#WelcomeToTheJungle is the title of the third instalment of #Welcome franchise… Producer #FirozANadiadwala has decided to bring the family entertainer in #Christmas2024. It may be recalled that the producer had released #Welcome [first part] in #Christmas2007. #Welcome3.”
The original “Welcome,” released in 2007 on Christmas, set the foundation for this laughter-packed series. Starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, alongside Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, and Feroz Khan in supporting roles, the film directed by Aneez Bazmee struck gold at the box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing hits of the year.
The second instalment, titled “Welcome Back,” continued the streak of success. With John Abraham and Shruti Haasan in the lead, supported by a star-studded ensemble cast including Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Shiney Ahuja, Ankita Shrivastava, Dimple Kapadia, Paresh Rawal, and Naseeruddin Shah, the film once again directed by Aneez Bazmee made waves in the comedy genre.
As the franchise gears up for its third outing, a few changes in the cast dynamics are evident. Rumours suggest that the iconic characters Uday and Majnu, previously portrayed by Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor, will be replaced by Arshad Warsi and Sanjay Dutt from the beloved “Munnabhai” series.
Alongside Akshay Kumar, who will continue to grace the screen with his comedic prowess, new additions to the cast include Jacqueline Fernandez and Disha Patani, promising an extra dose of charm. Speculations also hint at Suniel Shetty, who has shared the screen with Akshay Kumar in the “Hera Pheri” series, making an appearance in a fresh avatar.
