Kangana Ranaut Expresses Desire to Tell Bilkis Bano’s Story in a Powerful Movie

Kangana Ranaut, known for her fearless approach towards filmmaking and advocacy for women’s empowerment, recently responded to a Twitter user expressing interest in her telling the powerful story of Bilkis Bano through a film. Bilkis Bano’s story gained national attention during the Gujarat riots in 2002 when she survived a brutal gang rape and witnessed the murder of her family. The Supreme Court recently overturned the Gujarat government’s decision to release the 11 prisoners involved in the heinous crime.

Kangana revealed that she has been passionate about creating a film on Bilkis Bano’s ordeal and has dedicated three years to research and script development. However, she shared the challenges faced in bringing this narrative to life due to alleged resistance from major studios and OTT platforms.

In her response, Kangana revealed that she has been working on the script for such a film for three years, with extensive research. However, the actor-producer stated that she has faced challenges in moving forward with the project due to a lack of cooperation from major OTT platforms and studios. Kangana tweeted, “I want to make that story, I have the script ready, researched and worked on it for three years. But Netflix, Prime Video, and other studios wrote back to me that they have clear guidelines; they don’t do so-called politically motivated films.

She went on to share the difficulties she encountered in finding a platform for her project. “JioCinema said we don’t work with Kangana because she supports BJP, and Zee is going through a merger. What are my options?” Kangana expressed her frustration with the lack of support for a story she believes needs to be told.

The original tweet that prompted Kangana’s response was from a user who praised the actor for her commitment to women’s empowerment. The user asked if Kangana would be interested in telling Bilkis Bano’s story through a powerful movie, appealing to her sense of feminism and humanity.

This revelation adds another layer to Kangana Ranaut’s challenges in the industry, as she recently expressed her frustration over the alleged negativity surrounding her films and indicated a potential shift in her career. Kangana has been vocal about the need for empowering narratives and her disappointment with audiences choosing what she perceives as regressive content over films advocating women’s rights.

As Kangana Ranaut continues to navigate the complexities of the film industry, her commitment to telling impactful stories remains undeterred, with Bilkis Bano’s narrative potentially becoming a powerful addition to her filmography if the challenges are overcome.
