Rhea Chakraborty released from Mumbai Jail almost a month later her arrest

Actor Rhea Chakraborty, who has been at the eye of the storm ever since Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, finally has some news to let out a sigh of relief. On Wednesday, the actor was granted bail from Mumbai’s Byculla prison. This came 28 days after her arrest which was done on the basis of the alleged drug charges against her.

Her brother Showik on the other hand did not get his bail approved by the authorities.

Considering the intensity of the event, there were huge swathes of reporters and cameramen crowding outside the jail. The actor left in a car with its windows covered with newspapers.

In light of the recent hounding of Rhea by several news houses, the Mumbai Police specifically warned the media against “chasing celebrities and others” thereby “endangering lives”. This statement was released shortly after the actor received her bail.

Satish Maneshinde, who has been Rhea’s lawyer throughout the whole ordeal said that Rhea will “spend her night after a month in her own bed.”

The Bombay High Court, while granting bail to Rhea, demolished the Narcotics Control Bureau’s case against the 28-year old actor, who was allegedly a part of the drug syndicate in Bollywood.

The High Court said that she was not a part of a chain of drug dealers.

“Since she has no criminal antecedents, there are reasonable grounds for believing that she is not likely to commit any offence while on bail,” stated the order released by the High Court.

With Rhea’s bail, a dramatic course of events cascading post the CBI’s investigation could now be said has reached an equally dramatic end.
