Jawan Movie Review: ‘Jawan’ finally graces the big screen, starring the one and only Shah Rukh Khan has taken the internet by storm, and for good reason. SRK’s second release of 2023 is already poised to be the year’s biggest blockbuster. Directed by Atlee, this much-anticipated film has garnered immense attention, boasting record-breaking advance bookings and early morning shows drawing eager fans to theatres.

The narrative revolves around Vikram Rathore and his son Azad, both portrayed brilliantly by Shah Rukh Khan. Azad emerges as a messianic figure, dedicated to delivering justice to those wronged by the system. The film beautifully weaves in a touching backstory, explaining how Vikram and Azad became the saviours of society.

Nayanthara, as a police officer and Azad’s wife, adds depth to the narrative. Azad’s formidable team, including Sanya Malhotra, Leher Khan, and Sangeeta Bhattacharya, brings their A-game. Vijay Sethupathi takes on the role of the villain, a formidable weapons dealer. Deepika Padukone’s brief yet pivotal cameo as Azad’s mother weaves seamlessly into the narrative. Sanjay Dutt also makes a noteworthy appearance, adding an unexpected twist to the plot.

But let’s talk about Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh Khan is the heartbeat of ‘ Jawan. His magnetic charisma is unparalleled. Unlike other action heroes, SRK possesses an unrivalled on-screen magnetism that effortlessly captivates the audience. Jawan” treats fans to a double delight, with SRK excelling as Azad, the jail warden turned messiah, and delivering a powerhouse performance as the older Vikram Rathore.

The film is an action-packed rollercoaster, living up to the promises teased in the trailer. Atlee infuses the movie with edgy, high-octane action sequences, often with a Southern twist. Each punch and kick from Vikram Rathore and Azad elicits cheers and whistles from the audience. But “Jawan” is more than just action; it boasts a dose of comedy, reminding us of SRK’s incredible comedic timing. He once again proves he’s the unrivalled master of entertainment.

Vijay Sethupathi shines in the latter half of the film, perfectly portraying a menacing antagonist with a South Indian accent. The decision not to dub his voice adds authenticity to his character. While every movie villain ultimately succumbs to the hero, Sethupathi’s performance remains a standout.

Nayanthara’s role is pivotal, and her chemistry with SRK is palpable, making her Bollywood debut noteworthy. Sanjay Dutt’s character, a negotiator with a surprising twist, adds intrigue to the plot.

Anirudh Ravichander’s background score amplifies the intensity of “Jawan,” setting the perfect tone for the narrative. While the songs could have been more impactful, “Chaleya” stands out as a romantic ballad beautifully rendered by Shah Rukh Khan.

Sure, the film has its ‘leave your logic at the door’ moments, but it’s all part of the masala entertainer package.  Ridhi Dogra and Sunil Grover, though talented, could have been given more substantial roles. Nevertheless, “Jawan” is undeniably a Shah Rukh Khan showcase.

“Jawan” carries a powerful message and combines elements of excitement, drama, emotion, and action. It’s a full-fledged entertainer that delivers on the promise of seeti maar enjoyment. Shah Rukh Khan’s performance, the engaging storyline, and the film’s well-executed action sequences make it a must-watch for fans and movie enthusiasts alike. If you’re in the mood for unabashed, whistle-inducing enjoyment, “Jawan” is the ticket to grab.
