Rhea Chakraborty arrested by NCB
The Narcotics Control Bureau – NCB on Tuesday arrested Rhea Chakraborty for arranging and consuming drugs. The arrest comes as a consequence of three days of questioning by the NCB. This is a huge turnaround in the case as Rhea was found denying any participation in the drug angle regarding Sushant’s death.
Deputy director of NCB, KPS Malhotra said, “Rhea has been arrested and due process of informing the family has been completed.”
Rhea Chakraborty has been at the core of investigations ever since her boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on the 14th of June as a result of suicide. She was investigated over drug abuse case which was in connection with the actor’s death.
The NCB questioned her for roughly eight hours on Monday and six hours on Sunday.
Rhea was confronted with her younger brother Showik Chakraborty and Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda and even his house staffer Dipesh Sawant. This was done to understand their roles in the alleged drug circuit surrounding the case.
The NCB earlier said that it had obtained mobile phone chats and other electronic data which was suggestive of the fact that some banned drugs were allegedly procured by Rhea, Showik, Samuel and Dipesh.
Earlier, Indrajit Chakraborty, Rhea and Showik’s father issued a sentimental statement after Showik’s arrest.
“Congratulations India you have arrested my son, I’m sure next on the line is my daughter and I don’t know who is next thereafter,” said Lt Col Indrajit Chakraborty (Retd).
Though Sushant’s autopsy indicated the reason for death to be suicide, there happened to be speculation about the reason behind it. Sushant’s father filed an FIR against Rhea in Patna after which the case eventually got escalated to CBI.
