Lust Stories 2 Review: Stellar Performances by Kajol and Neena Gupta, but ‘Sex With Ex’ Falls Short of Expectations

Lust Stories 2," a collection of four intriguing short films that explore different aspects of relationships and desires. Each story brings its own unique flavour to the table, with varying degrees of success. Lust Stories 2 continues the tradition of its predecessor by presenting stories from a woman's perspective. This anthology, helmed by talented directors R Balki, Konkona Sen Sharma, Sujoy Ghosh, and Amit Sharma, delves into the complexities of modern relationships through the exploration of sexuality and physical desires. In the first story, "Made For Each Other," Arjun (played by Angad Bedi) and Veda (played by Mrunal Thakur) are on the brink of getting married. The families gather to discuss wedding preparations, but things take an unexpected turn when Veda's grandma (portrayed by Neena Gupta) insists that the couple should have sex before marriage to test their compatibility. Moving on to the second story, "The Mirror," we meet Isheeta (Tillotama Shome) from Mumbai's affluent background. One day, she comes home early due to a migraine and discovers her maid, Seema (Amruta Subhash), engaging in sexual activity. The performances by Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subhash are outstanding, supported by Shrikant Yadav's portrayal of Kamal, Seema's husband. In the third story, "Sex With Ex," we meet Vijay (played by Vijay Varma), a married man with two kids who is on his way to meet his former lover Nisha (portrayed by Jennifer Piccinato). However, his plans take a detour when his car breaks down in the intriguing settlement of Paraisol. Here, he encounters his ex-flame Shanti (played by Tamannaah Bhatia). The chemistry between Vijay Varma and Tamannaah Bhatia saves the day, with their sizzling performances. However, the suspense might come off as silly, despite its unexpected nature. The final story, "Tilchatta," revolves around a royal family in Bijokpur. Kumud Mishra portrays a member of the family who is determined to win a tender. He also harbours a lustful desire for his maid, Bitori (Payal Pande), despite being married to Devyani (Kajol). Overall, "Lust Stories 2" is a respectable effort, featuring two excellent stories and two that may not meet everyone's expectations. However, with its talented cast and steamy sequences, the movie is likely to attract a sizable audience. Special recognition goes to Studio Kokaachi for the original and eye-catching opening titles.
