Controversy Erupts: Adipurush Director’s Temple Kiss Sparks Strong Reactions

On June 7, filmmaker Om Raut and actress Kriti Sanon visited the Lord Venkateswara shrine in Tirupati, a day after the release of the final Adipurush teaser, which received an overwhelming response from fans. As they bid farewell outside the temple, a video surfaced showing the director kissing the actress on the cheek, quickly garnering attention. The reaction on social media was mixed, with some expressing their disapproval of the act.

The chief priest of Telangana’s Chilkur Balaji Temple voiced his condemnation of the video, stating that it was a disrespectful act. He went on to say that even a husband and wife do not visit the temple together, and such behaviour should be kept within private settings. The priest believed that the incident insulted the sacredness of the Ramayana and Goddess Sita.

Ramesh Naidu Nagothu, the state secretary of the BJP, also expressed his concern over the viral video, urging people to refrain from engaging in such activities at a revered location like the Tirupati Temple. In a now-deleted tweet, he questioned the need to display such antics in a sacred place and deemed it disrespectful and unacceptable.

In the upcoming film Adipurush, Prabhas portrays the character of Lord Rama, while Kriti Sanon plays Janaki and Sunny Singh portrays Lakshman. Saif Ali Khan has a crucial role in the movie as well, portraying the character of Lankesh. Based on the epic Ramayana, Om Raut’s pan-Indian mythological film is set to release on June 16 in theatres across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.

Before the temple visit, Tirupati hosted the final trailer launch for Adipurush on June 6, generating further excitement among fans and audiences eagerly awaiting the film’s release.
