Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai 20th December 2023 Written Update: Ruhi and Abhira get punishment

The latest episode begins with Vidya trying to reason with Kaveri, telling her that she can fix everything. She urges Kaveri not to punish herself because she is angry at her. Vidya insists that Kaveri eats something as she needs to take her medicine. Kaveri, however, asks Vidya to control Abhira first. Just then, Abhira enters the room and admits that she didn’t inform anyone about her departure. She asks Kaveri to punish her. Agreeing with Abhira, Kaveri believes it’s a good decision for her to face the consequences of her mistakes and instructs her to stand outside the house. This becomes her punishment.

Meanwhile, Rohith confronts Armaan, expressing his disappointment in him for coming between them. He believes Armaan shouldn’t have interfered and taken the responsibility. However, Armaan insists that he can handle it and takes responsibility for his actions. Armaan informs Rohith that he had asked them to send an email to him, trying to motivate him. Just then, Kiara sends a message to Armaan, informing him that Kaveri has punished Abhira by making her stand outside the house. This news causes panic for Armaan, and he prepares to leave, but Sanjay stops him, reminding him about an important meeting he needs to attend. Despite his attempts, Armaan finds it difficult to concentrate during the meeting.

Abhira starts feeling tired and realizes her leg needs rest. However, she hesitates to sit down as she fears Kaveri’s anger if she sees her sitting. Juhi notices Abhira’s thirst and recalls Nana’s advice. Ruhi offers water and food to Abhira, but Abhira refuses to drink, fearing that she will be punished for helping herself. Abhira worries that her actions will lead to her being labeled a bad daughter-in-law. Ruhi urges her not to argue and drink the water quickly. Just as Abhira is about to drink the water, Kaveri interrupts and scolds Ruhi for helping her. Abhira lies to Kaveri, claiming that she didn’t make any mistakes and that Ruhi offered her the water. Kaveri sees this as a positive gesture from Ruhi, believing that their relationship is improving. She insists that Ruhi stands beside Abhira and that they both should not enter the house. Kaveri demands that other family members refrain from helping them. Meanwhile, Manisha expresses her discontent to Kajal, stating that Kaveri’s behavior is excessive and that they should not be treated like children. Kajal suggests that Vidhya will take care of them, but Kaveri emphasizes that she needs to control her daughters-in-law. Manisha remarks that in this family, there is only one mother-in-law, Kaveri Poddar, and the younger generation may not understand her traditions. Kaveri asserts that they must listen to her because while times may change, traditions remain constant.

Manisha wonders how they would feel if they had a mother-in-law like Kaveri in their lives, considering they have daughters of their own. Kajal realizes that her own mother behaves similarly to Kaveri. Manisha shares her problems with Kajal before leaving. Abhira finally drinks the water and offers it to Ruhi. They both feel the heat outside the house and wonder why Ruhi helped Abhira despite not liking her. Abhira questions Ruhi’s motives, and Ruhi admits she has no idea why she helped. They both conclude that they are strange and decide to play a word association game. When Abhira mentions the word “love,” Ruhi unexpectedly mentions Armaan’s name, shocking Abhira. In response, Abhira reveals that Armaan and Rohith have arrived. Rohith informs them that Ruhi has also been punished. Abhira stops Armaan and informs him that Ruhi helped her, but she was punished as well. Armaan suggests that they need to confront Kaveri.

Vidya confronts Armaan, expressing her concern about Kaveri’s anger. Armaan reassures her that Abhira is his responsibility, but Vidya insists that they are her children too. Meanwhile, Vidhya informs Kaveri that Abhira and Ruhi haven’t eaten anything and have been standing outside for the past two hours. Kajal observes that Ruhi and Abhira share a good relationship, similar to Vidya and Kaveri. Both Ruhi and Abhira start feeling dizzy. Armaan holds Abhira, while Rohith supports Ruhi. They bring them inside the house, and Vidya feeds an apple to Abhira. Kaveri becomes increasingly frustrated. Meanwhile, Sanjay and Manoj notice one of their clients talking to Manish. Later, Armaan discusses Akshara with Abhira and thanks her for coming to save her.
