Adipurush Box Office Triumph: Crosses ₹200 Cr in India Despite Criticism

Despite receiving negative reviews for its dialogue and visual effects, Adipurush continues to perform well at the box office. The film grossed an estimated 64 crore rupees on Sunday, bringing its total earnings in India to nearly 216 crore. Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan lead the cast in this Om Raut-directed movie.

Following audience feedback, dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir and production company T-Series announced that some dialogues would be altered to address the concerns. Early estimates suggest that the Hindi version of Adipurush contributed 38.5 crores to its three-day collection, while the overall earnings in all languages reached around 216 crores, with 64 crores coming in on the third day.

The film had a strong start, grossing 140 crores globally, and added around 100 crores on Saturday, bringing its international box office revenue to over 200 crores. Adipurush is not only performing well in Hindi-speaking regions but also across various languages.

Devdatta Nage, Vatsal Sheth, Sunny Singh, and Sonal Chauhan have significant roles in the film, which offers a dramatic retelling of the Ramayana. Adipurush faced criticism on social media for its subpar visual effects and problematic dialogue, which will be modified in response to public feedback. Some colloquial phrases used in the movie, such as “marega bete” (he will die, son) and “jalegi tere baap ki” (your father will be burnt), raised concerns.

Manoj Muntashir addressed the issue, stating, “Our aim was to introduce the true heroes of Sanatan culture to the younger generation. There are objections to five dialogues, which will be modified. If people dislike certain parts, it is our responsibility to rectify them.”

Actor Arun Govil, best known for portraying Lord Ram in the television series Ramayan, previously referred to Adipurush as a “Hollywood ki cartoon” in an interview. While he admitted to not having watched the film, he questioned the need for modern adaptations of a classic like the Ramayana.

So, even though Adipurush has faced its fair share of hurdles, it’s continuing to make waves at the box office. With its grandeur, jaw-dropping 3D effects, and a revised dialogue that aims to strike the right chords, this larger-than-life spectacle is definitely worth experiencing on the big screen. Just remember to leave your expectations at the door and embrace the magnificence, even if some characters may look a bit one-dimensional.
