Anupama 18th December 2023 Written Update: Anuj accuses Anupama of prioritizing Shahs

The episode begins with Choti accusing Anupama of leaving her behind and prioritizing others. Anupama defends herself, explaining that as her mother, she would never intentionally do such a thing. However, Choti insists that she is not Anupama’s real daughter, while Pari is her own granddaughter. Choti expresses her disappointment that Anupama always seems to have time for Pari but not for her. Malti Devi agrees with Choti’s accusations, causing Anupama to argue with her for poisoning Choti’s mind at such a young age. Anuj intervenes, becoming frustrated and shouting at them to stop arguing. He apologizes to Choti and instructs her to go to her room.

Anupama explains to Anuj that Choti doesn’t understand the situation and that her actions were the only way out. Anuj acknowledges Anupama’s selflessness, stating that she would even sacrifice her own life for Choti’s sake. He admits that while Choti’s words were not entirely correct, they were not entirely wrong either. He acknowledges that in that situation, Choti felt like she was less important to Anupama. Anuj emphasizes that everyone was saved by God’s grace, but if Anupama had to choose between saving Pari and Choti, she would have chosen Pari.

Feeling misunderstood, Anupama tearfully explains to Anuj that even if no one else understands her, she thought he would. She describes the situation where the car was stuck in a position that could have led it to fall off a cliff. She clarifies that she couldn’t have put Choti in the front seat because it would have compromised the car’s balance and caused it to fall. Anupama asserts that a mother cannot choose between her children and would do everything to save them, even at the cost of her own life. She questions how Anuj, as her husband, could doubt her in such a way.

Anupama blames her luck for having to explain herself for something that should be celebrated. Anuj listens silently as she expresses her frustrations. Anupama declares that she will not seek validation for her motherhood. Anuj clarifies that he never questioned her capability as a mother but raises concerns about her prioritizing the Shah family over the Kapadia family. He believes that Anupama is too attached to her past relationships and struggles to fully accept new ones.

Anupama counters by mentioning how Anuj never drew a line to stop Malti Devi and Barkha’s toxic behavior towards her. She questions why his family is given chances while hers is not, especially since Anuj has always emphasized equality between husband and wife. Anuj explains that he never considered Malti Devi as his mother, so it is Anupama’s responsibility to handle the toxicity from her. He continues to accuse Anupama of prioritizing the Shahs over the Kapadias, reminding her of past incidents where she made similar choices. Anupama asserts that they are her present and that she loves and cares for both Anuj and Choti. The episode ends with Anuj accepting her words, leaving Anupama heartbroken.
