Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor are all set to rock our screens with their upcoming film “Bawaal,” dropping on July 21st. The actors are working hard to promote the movie ahead of its release. However, a particular promotional event has drawn the ire of netizens, and Varun Dhawan found himself at the centre of criticism.
A photoshoot of the film’s leading actors went viral online, and one specific image caught the attention of internet users. In the photo, Varun Dhawan is seen playfully biting Janhvi’s ear while holding her waist. Despite it being a playful stunt, online users were quick to mock the actor, expressing their disapproval of his actions towards his co-star.
Netizens criticized Varun, suggesting that he crossed boundaries and acted inappropriately with his female co-stars. Some commenters on Reddit warned the actor, emphasizing that such behaviour is unacceptable, especially given that he is married. One user wrote, “This is creepy for a married man to do. When they are not acting in a movie.”
Another user added, “I don’t know why people are saying he shouldn’t do all this because he is married. He just shouldn’t do all this even if he was single.” The general sentiment was that Varun’s behaviour towards his co-stars was not justified and should be avoided.
This is not the first time Varun Dhawan has faced criticism for his interactions with female co-stars. He was previously teased for embracing Gigi Hadid at an event without her permission. However, he clarified that the interaction was arranged and that Gigi was not bothered by it. Nonetheless, the actor’s actions have attracted scrutiny from social media, where any celebrity action can become a target for trolls.
“Bawaal” is a romance drama set during World War II, and it marks the first time Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan are starring together in lead roles. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala through Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Earthsky Pictures. “Bawaal” is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video on July 21st.
