Sriram Raghavan Unveils the Intriguing World of “Merry Christmas” in Riveting Trailer

The trailer for Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming thriller, “Merry Christmas,” invites viewers into a gripping narrative filled with suspense, unexpected twists, and a touch of dark humour, characteristic of the acclaimed filmmaker’s style. The trailer offers a glimpse into the intriguing world of Merry Christmas, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles.

Opening with a nod to Raghavan’s previous film, “Andhadhun,” the trailer features two mixer grinders—one filled with peanuts and red chillies, and the other with what appears to be sleeping drugs. This subtle callback sets the stage for a narrative that promises to be as engaging and enigmatic as its predecessor.

As the trailer unfolds, Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s characters meet on Christmas Eve, setting off a chain of events that quickly spiral into serious trouble. Tinnu Anand’s voiceover introduces the setup, and Sanjay Kapoor makes a notable appearance, adding depth to the ensemble cast.

Several intriguing elements hint at the suspenseful nature of the film, including Katrina’s mysterious request for Vijay to choose between her two fingers. A postcard featuring a young Rajesh Khanna with the quote, “The night is darkest before the dawn,” adds an air of foreboding to the narrative. As the trailer progresses, a burning yellow teddy bear and a poignant scene involving a child, presumably Katrina’s, further deepen the mystery.

“Merry Christmas” is a bilingual film, with the Hindi version featuring supporting actors such as Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand. The Tamil version includes Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams. A young actor named Pari makes her debut in the movie, with cameo appearances by Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte in both versions.

Produced by Sriram’s Matchbox Pictures and Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films, “Merry Christmas” is slated for a theatrical release on January 12, 2024. As the trailer promises a roller-coaster of suspense and intrigue, audiences eagerly await the opportunity to experience Sriram Raghavan’s latest cinematic offering on the big screen.
