Dunki Anticipation Surges with Strong Advance Booking Numbers

The excitement for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film, “Dunki,” is reaching new heights as advance booking figures showcase a promising start. According to Sacnilk.com, approximately 1,44,186 tickets for 6,394 shows on the film’s opening day, December 21, have already been sold. This surge in advance bookings hints at an impressive day-one collection, with estimates reaching at least 4.45 crore in India.

The reported figures specifically account for Hindi shows in 2D format, underlining the robust interest among the audience for Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the big screen. “Dunki” is set to compete with Prabhas’ “Salaar: Ceasefire,” slated for release a day later on December 22. The competitive spirit is evident as over 16,000 tickets, amounting to Rs 55 lakh, have been sold for the Hindi version of “Salaar.” With pre-sales estimated at about 3 crores following the sale of 125.8K tickets, the numbers are expected to rise further after the release of the film’s trailer.

Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared insights on X (Twitter), stating, “Despite not being a Mass Action movie, #SRK’s #Dunki has sold 100K tickets in advance already,” highlighting the positive response to Shah Rukh Khan’s film.

Dunki,” directed by Rajkumar Hirani, renowned for his work on “Sanju,” boasts a stellar cast, including Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, and Jyoti Subhash in pivotal roles.

Shah Rukh Khan recently visited Dubai to promote “Dunki” and addressed the diverse audience there, emphasising the film’s theme of home and heart. He stated, “I know that a lot of you people have left your homes and have made Dubai your second home. From India, Bangladesh, and the rest of the subcontinent, so many of you are here from Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Now you all are far from home, but you have acquired a new home. Still, you have a deep love for your home and have this longing to go back. This whole film talks about how home is where the heart is.”

The actor’s interaction in Dubai further fueled the buzz around the film, contributing to the heightened anticipation among fans. As “Dunki” gears up for release, the box office battle with “Salaar: Ceasefire” adds an intriguing element to the year-end cinematic landscape.
