Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dunki” Makes its Digital Debut on Netflix

Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated film “Dunki,” directed by Rajkumar Hirani, made a splash at the box office upon its theatrical release on December 21, 2023. Grossing a whopping ₹454 crore globally, the film showcased its stellar performance on the big screen. However, it’s now set to captivate audiences worldwide as it makes its digital debut on Netflix.

Announced via a captivating poster on Instagram, Netflix India revealed the arrival of “Dunki” on its platform, inviting viewers to embark on a riveting journey with Shah Rukh Khan. The caption read, “Pack your bags! After a Dunki around the world, @iamsrk is coming home… Dunki, now streaming on Netflix!.” The film premiered on Valentine’s Day 2024, offering audiences a compelling narrative to delve into.

At the heart of “Dunki” lies the poignant theme of immigration, symbolized by the term ‘donkey voyage.’ This term encapsulates the arduous and perilous journeys individuals undertake worldwide in pursuit of their desired destinations for immigration. Alongside Shah Rukh Khan, the film features a stellar cast including Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Anil Grover, and Vikram Kochhar.

Following the success of “Pathaan” and “Jawan,” “Dunki” marks Shah Rukh Khan’s final release of 2023. Speaking about collaborating with the superstar, director Rajkumar Hirani expressed his excitement, stating, “You always want to make a movie with a meaningful and good story. Shah Rukh was immediately drawn to the story. As an actor, he wanted to do something different after performing action films, which is why he was so involved and pleased with it. I had also wanted to work with him for a long time, and finally, we worked together and had a great time.”

“Dunki” received a mixed response from audiences and critics alike, particularly as it competed with Prabhas’ blockbuster “Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire.” While “Salaar” dominated the box office, “Dunki” carved its own path with its compelling narrative and stellar performances. Shot originally in Telugu and later released in multiple languages including Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil, “Dunki” is now ready to mesmerize audiences worldwide on Netflix. So, buckle up for an unforgettable cinematic experience as Shah Rukh Khan takes you on a global journey in “Dunki.”
