Adah Sharma’s “The Kerala Story” Set for OTT Premiere on ZEE5
Adah Sharma, the lead in “The Kerala Story,” has shared exciting news with her followers on Instagram. The film, directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Shah, is all set to make its OTT debut on ZEE5. Adah Sharma announced the premiere date, writing, “FINALLY !!!!! SURPRISE !! The most anticipated film is dropping soon on ZEE5! #TheKeralaStory premieres on 16th February, only on #ZEE5.”
“The Kerala Story” revolves around the experiences of three girls—Shalini (Adah Sharma), Nimah (Yogita Bihani), and Geetanjali (Siddhi Idnani). The plot delves into how they are convinced to convert to another religion by their flatmate, Asifa (Sonia Balani). The film unfolds in two parts, depicting the deception that led to the girls’ conversion and Shalini’s journey as Fatima Ba, a converted member of a terrorist group, along with her captivity in Afghanistan.
The narrative sheds light on real-life incidents that occurred in Kerala between 2018 and 2019, where young individuals were misled in the name of love, converted to different religions, and persuaded to join conflict zones.

The film’s trailer, which claimed that 32,000 women had gone missing in Kerala, faced scrutiny, with questions raised about the accuracy of the statistics. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee labelled it a ‘distorted story’ and initially imposed a ban on the film in the state. The ban was later lifted following a Supreme Court order directing the state government to withdraw the restriction.
