Just a day after attending the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha event in Ayodhya, versatile actor Kangana Ranaut, took to Instagram to not only share insights from the spiritual event but also to reveal the much-anticipated release date of her upcoming film, “Emergency.” Kangana, who wears the hats of both writer and director for the film, posted a striking new poster featuring her portrayal of the formidable former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.
In her Instagram caption, Kangana declared, “Unlock the story behind India’s darkest hour. Announcing Emergency on 14th June 2024. Witness history come alive as the most feared and fiercest Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, thunders into cinemas.”
Describing “Emergency” as her most ambitious project and the second directorial venture post “Manikarnika,” Kangana emphasized the film’s grand scale as a period drama. Initially scheduled for release on November 24, 2023, the film was delayed due to adjustments in Kangana’s schedule. This mega-budget production, co-produced by Zed Studios and Manikarnika Films, promises to delve into one of the most contentious and tumultuous chapters in Indian democracy.
The film boasts a stellar cast, with notable names such as Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. Ritesh Shah, known for his proficiency in screenwriting and dialogues, has lent his creative touch to the film’s narrative.
