Ajay Devgn’s “Maidaan” Set for Eid Release, Faces Clash with “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan”

Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated historical sports drama, “Maidaan,” has secured a new release date and is now set to hit cinemas on Eid in April 2024. However, the announcement raises concerns as the same date has been reserved for Ali Abbas Zafar’s buddy action film, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” featuring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.

Cinema trade expert Taran Adarsh shared the update on his social media platform, stating, “AJAY DEVGN: ‘MAIDAAN’ TO ARRIVE THIS EID. #Maidaan – starring #AjayDevgn – gets a new release date: April 2024 #Eid. Directed by Amit Sharma. #BoneyKapoor #ZeeStudios.”

Maidaan” is a sports drama directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and co-produced by Boney Kapoor and Zed Studios. The film revolves around the golden years of Indian football, depicting the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, the esteemed coach considered the founding father of Indian football. Ajay Devgn plays the role of Syed Abdul Rahim, who served as the coach and manager of the Indian football team from 1950 until his passing in 1963. 

The movie’s cast includes Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh. Maidaan” faced challenges during production, including disruptions due to the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 and damage caused by Cyclone Tauktae in May 2021.

On the same release date, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” is scheduled to hit theatres, creating a clash at the box office. The film marks Tiger Shroff’s first collaboration with Akshay Kumar and features Sonakshi Sinha and Prithviraj Sukumaran in key roles. The official teaser for “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” is set to be unveiled on January 24.

 Ajay Devgn is also set for another high-profile clash later in the year, with his police drama “Singham Again” scheduled to release on Independence Day, the same day as Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa 2: The Rule.” This year promises intense box office battles and a treat for film enthusiasts with these much-anticipated releases.
