Akshay Kumar Takes on the Role of a Real-Life Hero in ‘Mission Raniganj’ Teaser!
Akshay Kumar is back in action, and this time he’s donning the turban to portray the renowned mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill in “Mission Raniganj.” Just a month after the box office success of OMG 2, the teaser for this rescue drama, slated for release on October 6, has been unveiled.
The heart-pounding teaser unfolds against the backdrop of the Raniganj Coalfields, where 65 brave souls find themselves trapped deep within a mine, courtesy of an unexpected deluge. Presumed lost to the world, hope flickers back to life when mining maven Jaswant Singh Gill steps in, making a promise that resonates with unwavering determination—to save them, even if just one of the 65 miners clings to life.
Akshay dons the look of a Sikh, complete with a turban, glasses, and simple cotton attire. This portrayal comes four years after his compelling role in Anurag Singh’s war epic “Kesari,” where he embodied Ishar Singh, a havildar in the 36th Sikh Regiment, defending their territory against an onslaught of 10,000 invaders during the Battle of Saragarhi in 1897. Interestingly, Parineeti Chopra, Akshay’s co-star from “Kesari,” is also part of “Mission Raniganj,” as glimpsed in the teaser, exuding concern, clad in white, with her hair neatly pulled back.
Akshay Kumar first graced the screen as a Sikh in Anees Bazmee’s action-comedy “Singh Is Kinng” in 2008, earning praise for his authentic portrayal and turbaned appearance.
