Prime Video’s Original Film “Ae Watan Mere Watan” Set for International Premiere on March 21

On the occasion of International Radio Day, Prime Video India has unveiled exciting news for cinephiles worldwide—the international premiere of their original film, “Ae Watan Mere Watan.” This poignant historical thriller, starring the talented Sara Ali Khan in the lead role, is scheduled to hit the OTT platform on March 21.

Sara Ali Khan shared the announcement on her Instagram, saying, “Desh ki kahaani, Usha ki zubaani World Radio Day par! #AeWatanMereWatanOnPrime, Mar 21 only on @primevideoin.” In the film, Sara Ali Khan portrays Usha, a pivotal character running a clandestine radio station during the tumultuous era of the British Raj.

“Ae Watan Mere Watan” weaves a fictional narrative around an underground radio station that played a pivotal role in shaping the course of India’s freedom movement. Drawing inspiration from the real-life heroics of Usha Mehta, an unsung independence fighter, the film pays tribute to the countless unsung heroes whose dedication, sacrifice, and resilience paved the way for India’s independence. The historical thriller will be available for streaming in Hindi, with additional versions in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the project, Karan Johar stated in a press release, “Ae Watan Mere Watan pays homage to the significant role radio played in uniting the country and fueling the fire in every Indian’s heart, further emboldening the Quit India Movement. The film has been a long-time goal of mine, and I am thrilled to be embarking on it.”

Directed by Kannan Iyer and written by Darab Farooqui and Iyer, “Ae Watan Mere Watan” also features an impressive ensemble cast, including Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’ Neil, and Anand Tiwari. Emraan Hashmi makes a special guest appearance in the film. A Dharmatic Entertainment Production, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra.
